I’m Sorry

Here is an open letter to anyone who has ever been a member of fitness Cape Coral.

I’m sorry. At fitness Cape Coral, we’ve been lucky enough to get the chance to help a LOT of people and we feel that our passionate coaches and our programs have helped to improve the quality of life for many people.

But this letter is specifically to any one of you who DIDN’T have a great experience.

There are no excuses. In the past, our goal was to help as many people as possible, in any way possible, no matter what. We gave away memberships, freebies, massive discounts, all in the hopes of being able to help as many people as possible. The thought was: just get as many people in the doors as possible, so we can show them the life-changing benefits exercise has to offer.

We took out personal loans to keep our business afloat. We chose not to take paychecks in order to keep the doors open. We constantly said things like, “We don’t care about the money, we just want to help people.” We picked up other jobs in order to pay for ability to help people, but the true downfall is this: because of all those things, we could never truly provide the best benefit to the people we were trying to help.

It’s been 5 long, exciting, happy years at fitness Cape Coral. The mission to help is still exactly the same, but the process has COMPLETELY changed for someone starting with us.

NOW, if you wanted to start at fitness Cape Coral, you get the opportunity to sit down for a free 1-on-1 No Sweat Intro with me, Nick. I take time to hear your story, learn your goals, and find out EXACTLY what you want to accomplish.

Next, I prescribe the best plan of action for you based on your goals. Sometimes, I might recommend nutrition coaching only. Other times, I might tell you that a few 1-on-1 trainings would be the best course of action for you. For some people, group fitness classes might be the route that makes the most sense. For lots of people, it’s a combination of all these things. Most importantly, I then communicate with your coach about your goals, your history, and my recommendation. That way, everyone is working together to give you the best possible route to success.

How did it go before? Depending on when you joined, you were probably rushed through 2-4 classes, taught too much, too fast. Then you were pushed into a class with many other members, none of whom knew your name. If you joined a LONG time ago, you might’ve just been thrown right into a class with no preparation, and you were told we’d scale everything correctly for you. But again, nobody knew your story or your goals, and there’s a strong chance we missed some steps in helping you.

We’ve always had great coaches and we’ve always had great programs, so fitness Cape Coral has worked for a LOT of people. But it mostly worked for people who made it through the first 6-8 weeks, because those people got to know our coaches, got the time to make fitness a habit, and got the true benefits of the program. But for those of you who we DIDN’T properly onboard? It was probably hard to continue.

Thinking of former members that I COULD HAVE helped is what truly keeps me up at night. If only we had our current processes in place at that time. That’s why I felt the need to write this letter.

I genuinely hope we made a positive impact on your life. I hope you learned from your experience with us.

But if you didn’t, then I hope you found another program where they sit down with you 1-on-1, like we do now. I hope you found a place that talks to you about your nutrition, like we do now. I hope you found a place puts you in a program where you’ll succeed, like we do now.

We all grow and evolve. When I think of business practices we had or coaching cues that I gave 5 years ago, I literally cringe. But like I said, we all grow and evolve. If you’ve stayed with this letter this long, know that I am truly thankful for the opportunity to say all of this.
