We believe that eating healthy and moving your body is the best way to prevent illness and improve your quality of life. Focusing on eating quality whole foods can greatly improve your health and wellness. Fast, cheap, and easy foods have become a staple in the diet of our culture and it’s creating an epidemic of preventable diseases. Regular physical activity combined with a diet filled with lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains can help you to feel better and look better, too. Avoiding items that are packed with added sugar and learning to cook some staple meals can be life-changing.
We have people that come in to check out our facility with the same basic requests:
“I want to feel better.”
“I need more energy.”
“I’d like to be able to keep up with my kids/grandkids.”
“I need to lower my blood pressure.”
“I’m trying to stop eating fast food.”
“I want to fit into my old jeans again.”
“I’m going on vacation in x weeks/I’m getting married in x weeks.”
Three suggestions to get started right now are:
-
Don’t drink your calories – Did you know that a can of cola contains around 39 grams of sugar and roughly 150 calories? Instead of cracking open a can, consider having some fresh fruits or veggies.
-
Make sleep a priority – Studies have shown that when you don’t get enough sleep you crave higher calorie foods. Aim for 7-8 hours per night.
-
Move every day – In order to lose fat you must be in a calorie deficit and working out to see changes. The US Dept. of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity movement a week. By getting 30-45 minutes a day, you can easily meet and exceed this recommendation.
Here’s the thing though – you can’t expect results overnight. You likely are not in the position you are because of what you did yesterday or last week; it’s an accumulation of months and years of not-so-great decision making. Anything promising you a quick-fix will likely result in you going right back to square one as soon as you stop.
It’s incredible how small steps repeated consistently can produce lifelong changes. Our goal is to help you reach your goals. We strive to meet you where you are and help you get to where you desire to be. Our nutrition program provides you with the tools that you can use for the rest of your life to make smart eating choices. The old cliche is true, “trust the process.” We’ve been there and done that, and can help you move through the process towards your ultimate goal.
