Diapers and Dumbbells

A postpartum strength class where your baby comes with you. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am, coached by Chelsea, a labor and delivery nurse.

Your body did something enormous

Now it feels like somebody else's. You want to feel strong again, you're not sure what's safe yet, and there's nobody to watch the baby anyway.

That's the whole reason this class exists. Bring the baby. Feed the baby mid-set if you need to. Every mom in the class has been where you are, and so has the coach.

Is this for you?

This is for you if

  • You had a baby in the last year. Six weeks out to about twelve months is the sweet spot.
  • You're pregnant and want to go into delivery stronger.
  • You never worked out before, or you stopped during pregnancy. Most of the class started there.
  • You want your core and pelvic floor back, done safely, by somebody who knows what pregnancy does to them.
  • You'd rather do this with other moms than alone in a big gym.
  • You need to bring the baby. That's the point of the class.

Probably not this class if

  • Your child is past about a year and on the move. We have a class for moms with slightly older children, so reach out anyway.
  • You can't make Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am.
  • You're under six weeks out, or your doctor hasn't cleared you yet. Come back when they have, and we'll hold a spot.

What you get

Your core and pelvic floor, rebuilt properly

We start where you actually are, six weeks out or six months out, and build back what pregnancy stretched.

Workouts scaled to you

Chelsea adjusts every movement to where you're at, whether you've never worked out a day in your life or you lifted right up until delivery.

Other moms

Nobody here blinks at a blowout or a feeding break, and most moms say the other moms are why they keep coming.

Energy for the rest of the day

Forty-five minutes, twice a week. You leave with more than you walked in with.

How it works

  1. Fill out the short form below.
  2. Chelsea reaches out, and you talk through where you're at and when your baby was born.
  3. You come to your first class. Bring the baby.

Common questions

When is it safe to start?

Ask your doctor first. The general guideline is six weeks after birth.

Can I come if I'm still pregnant?

Yes. Strengthening your core and pelvic floor before the baby comes makes the recovery after a lot easier.

I never worked out before or during pregnancy. Is this still for me?

Yes, and honestly that's most of the class. Every workout gets made easier or harder for you.

Do I have to bring my baby?

No. Some moms use this as their one hour alone. Both are welcome.

How old should my baby be?

Six weeks to about 12 months. Past that they're on the move too much for you to focus on yourself, and we have a class for moms with slightly older children, so reach out anyway.

What if my baby gets upset during class?

Feed them, hold them, talk to them, and jump back in when you're ready. It happens every class.

When are classes?

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am, about 45 minutes. We take up to five new moms a month so the group stays small.

What happens after the eight weeks?

Keep going in Diapers and Dumbbells (a lot of moms do), or move into our other classes.
